How is Rapid Success Tutoring different from a learning center?
At Rapid Success Tutoring, our tutors come directly to you. You don't need to drive anywhere! Our dedicated and qualified tutors will design a program for your child that is based on their school's curriculum, not a pre-determined program that may not relate at all to what your child is working on in school. We will also interface with your child's teacher, if necessary; to be sure your child is on the right track. It is truly one on one customized tutoring.
How is Rapid Success Tutoring different from hiring a private tutor?
At Rapid Success Tutoring, we realize that every child is different. At the in-home consultation, we get to know you and your child and are able to provide a tutor who best matches your child's unique needs and learning style. Furthermore, our tutors go through a selective interview and screening process. We do the legwork for you!
Are there any assessment tests my child must take before being tutored by Rapid Success Tutoring?
No, assessment tests (which can cost up to $200.00 in a learning center environment) are not a prerequisite in order for your child to be tutored. We assess based on each families individual wants and needs, and the assessments are included in the in-home consultation and tutoring sessions.
Does Rapid Success Tutoring supply any learning materials for the tutoring sessions?
We highly recommend that your child bring home their school books or any other materials they are working on in their class that relates to the subject(s) we are tutoring. In some cases our tutors will provide materials if it complements what your child is learning. However, we do not provide a curriculum. We will help you attain materials from your child's school, if necessary, or direct you to several resources where you can purchase the appropriate materials. We believe in working closely with your child's curriculum and school's culture.
Are there a minimum number of sessions for which I have to commit and how long is each session?
No, we do not have any long-term contracts, however, we strongly suggest a minimum of four sessions in order to really see progress. The minimum amount of time for each session is one hour.
Do your tutors work with learning disabled or special needs children?
Yes, many of our tutors are special needs certified and will be able to work in conjunction with the school's I.E.P. guidelines to help your child.
I have more than one child. Can you tutor all of them at the same time?
Most of our tutoring is one-on-one. We do not recommend group tutoring; however, during the in-home consultation, our Director will suggest the most cost effective program for your children.
Will the tutor or director accompany me to parent-teacher conferences?
Yes! The tutor or director will be available for parent teacher conferences to discuss the student's program and to discuss the areas of emphasis on which the student should work at home.
How do I get started?
Our Director will set up an in-home consultation. You can contact us at:
Phone: 410.370.3406 or 410.370.3407
Email: info@rapidsuccesstutoring.com
This is an informal meeting with you and your child. Please have all relevant schoolwork, progress reports, report cards and testing results (if applicable) available for this meeting.
What are your tutors' qualifications?
Our tutors are full-time and part-time certified teachers, substitute teachers, retired teachers or honors college students with at least two years of one-on-one tutoring experience. We personally interview every tutor.
What if my child doesn't like their tutor?
We meet with each family in order to personally select the best tutor for your child. We match students and tutors based on subject area, schedules, personality and interests. For this reason, our matches are generally very successful. If you do not feel the tutor is a good match for your child, please let us know, and we will immediately contact another tutor.
How long do I have to wait to get a tutor assigned to my child?
After we meet with you, our Director will contact one of our tutors within 48 hours. We will call you to tell you about the tutor. The tutor will then call you to introduce themselves, get directions to your home and establish a schedule that works for you.
Do you tutor students in college?
Yes, we have tutors who are very capable of tutoring college level courses. Requests for college level tutoring have increased dramatically in the last year and we can provide an experienced college level teacher or tutor. College students can be tutored on campus or in the library.
What geographical areas do you service?
We have tutors available in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City and County, and Howard County. If you live in another county in Maryland, please contact us anyway, and we will do our best to help you find a tutor.
Do you provide test preparation for the ISEE, SAT and ACT tests?
Yes, we will help your student prepare for all exams including specific subject tests. We highly recommend that you contact us at least six weeks before the test date so our tutors have enough time to help the student prepare. Although we only require one hour a week of tutoring, our experience has been that one and a half to two hours a week for test prep is the most effective.
Do you accept major credit cards?
Yes, we accept payment by check or credit card. You always have the option to change your preferred method of payment - just call or e-mail us and we'll make the appropriate switch.
What is the purpose of the in-home consultation?
At Rapid Success Tutoring, we take a personal approach with each family that we meet. Our first step in the tutoring process is to schedule a complimentary, in-home consultation so we can sit down face-to-face with you and your child in your home to discuss your child's strengths, weaknesses, interests and their learning styles. Based on this information, we are able to determine the best tutor match for your child to promote educational achievement and self confidence. We will work together to develop a plan to meet your child's needs and get them on the road to success!
Why should the tutoring take place in our home?
We have found in-home tutoring to be invaluable for several reasons. Students are more wiling to open up and engage with their tutor when the tutoring is done in the privacy and comfort of their home and where there are no distractions from their peers. Furthermore, parents are able to see and hear what is going on during the tutoring sessions, communicate with the tutor after each tutoring session to discuss their child's weekly progress. This helps to keep everyone in the loop and on the same page. If for any reason you feel there are too many distractions in your home, we can arrange for the tutoring to take place after school at your child's school or at your local public library.
